Special Needs Transportation Individual Preservice or Inservice Training Topics

By Dr. Ray Turner

Each of 82 Special Needs Driver Team Training Topics contain a:

1. 82 Newsletter Topics. Newsletter content is from 6 to 9 pages in length in Adobe Acrobat .pdf read only format. Read-only format has the advantage of saving paper and printing costs for small or large groups of people taking each training or inservice topic. Many (most?) inservice training handouts end up in the trash immediately after each large group inservice meeting. Why not avoid this problem to begin with? Provide newsletter access on your Transportation Department web page.

2. 82 Single Topic PowerPoint Presentations—The Driver Team Training Version. (The presentation is 60 to 90 Minutes Long for Driver Team Training. This format is for the Driver Trainer, the Driver and an Assistant (Attendant or Monitor) to go over the topic together at the computer with the Driver Trainer.

3. 82 Driver Trainer PowerPoint Slide Notes to use during the Driver Team Training. The Driver Team Trainer always has these notes with them during the training to assist in explaining any issues or answering any likely questions from the Driver Team being trained. (Notes are included in the Power Point Notes section.)

4. 82 Driver Team Posttests with 8 items multiple choice each). Quickly done but not timed. Most test takers will complete the test in less than 10 minutes. No trick questions. No splitting hairs. Good, solid information that is useful on the bus with students with a variety of disabilities or challenges for which Driver Team must be prepared and be able to respond immediately to those students for a resolution.  The Trainer can read the test questions to the trainees if they have difficulty reading and note their answers.

5. 82 Posttest Test Answers Immediately Available to the Test Takers.

Since the questions were derived directly from the Newsletter and/or PowerPoint Presentation the answers from those two sources is provided on a page-by-page or line-by-line basis.
